Ask OSA is a Google Classroom to which all OSA students will be invited to in the first week of September. It is a judgement-free zone for students to fire away their burning questions, especially while away from school or unable to ask in-person.
There are two ways in which Ask OSA provides academic support. Firstly, OSA teachers post video lessons and other resources to supplement their in-class teaching, which students can refer to deepen their understanding of concepts and materials. Secondly, there are Google Classroom posts that function as open forums, organized by topic and grade level. Under which, you can ask related questions and receive answers from teachers or students. Conversely, you can answer questions to which you know the answer, helping your school community.
Mentorship is SET's most renowned initiative.
SET POTLUCK
Every summer, the Student Engagement Team hosts a lively and heartwarming potluck event that brings together students from all grades. This much-anticipated gathering is a highlight of the school community, offering a perfect opportunity for students to relax, share homemade dishes, and engage in meaningful conversations. The potluck fosters a sense of belonging, as new friendships are formed over shared meals and students connect with peers they might not normally interact with during the school year. It's a vibrant celebration of community and a fantastic way to end the summer with joy and camaraderie.
SET's Toolkit 4 Success is an event for incoming Grade 10 students to familiarize themselves with the school and classmates that they will be spending their next three years with. Complete with icebreakers and words of advice, the Toolkit 4 Success is students' first opportunity to get their feet wet in the OSA community and start making long-lasting connections.
